elderly woman behind the counter in a small RANDOM town

That study that linked Autism to vaccines has been debunked for years, why is it suddenly news to CNN and AP? I saw this on ABC Headline News, like, a year ago and thought the same thing. I feel bad. Not for the bastards who made that up, but for the poor people who clung to that as an explanation and the other poor people who believed it and didn't have their kids vaccinated. I guess the only good thing is that every time this is "news" all over again, it sinks in for more and more people.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to give a peace sign and not look like an idiot.

Except that, anecdotally, the myth seems to be spreading.

That sucks. I think of the injustices people get all sanctimonious about this is the one that gets me. Autism's False Prophets is a fantastic book on the subject. We went to an open house for the local "top doc" pediatrician's office before our oldest was born and they made it crystal clear that they wouldn't accept your child as a patient if you didn't get vac's. Someone started barking at them and they pointed to a two foot high stack of papers on the corner of their desk. "Take these, read them. If you won't get vaccinations that's fine, we can't stop you, but you can't be our patient."

I never said I didn't look like an idiot. Most of my friends back home did the old school hippie one to say goodbye or while passing each other in cars. Then again, most of my friends back home are/were potheads, so that might have something to do with it.

occasionally i do a sideways peace sign as a quasi-goodbye, usually like when i'm driving and passing cars, but occasionally when i'm walking away from some people. usually with a vocal "Peace" that sounds more like "PAYCE"

i presume this is where the term "deuces" as a valediction came from, but i'm not sure. my sister says it all the time. i should ask her.

for purposes of full disclosure, I'm sure there's a sideways peace sign and maybe even a pursed lip somewhere in my digital history

See, for me, a "PAYCE" is worse than a sideways peace sign. Has wannabe gangster all over it.

Went to visit an apt today where the building manager was a late 50s early 60s guy originally from west philly. First name harvey, iPhone with a phillies case. I fought every urge to mention bsg bc I don't know what would have transpired if it was the kid. I've been hoping for the chance meeting but haven't prepared myself for it.

I'm not really sure where it came from. It's a very distinct, aggressive, staccato delivery my friends and I have been doing since we were in high school. It probably came from some wannabe gangster though, surely, and started as a joke on them.

Well between this and denying my WERTZ last year at the tailgate, we surely cannot be internet friends. I'm sorry.

well, you know what you have to do; go back.

I mean, I think you know as well as we all do that, considering the information in your thumbnail, the odds are plenty good the guy at least knows PtK, if he isn't himself the Kid.

Call him up, tell him you're in town just a day or so more, ask if he can recommend a decent SF jazz club. If he says "Yoshi's" without hesitation, you've got y(our) man
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Ask him how a Phillies fan ended up out there and if he discusses the Phils online with other fans. It's smoother than "HEY ARE YOU PTK FROM BSG?!"
