Odd picture accompanying that article. If that's a croc, it's a little baby croc, or maybe a freshie.

The bachelor party is where you'll probably get crushed. But bank on two nights of a hotel, tux rental ($100-180), a wedding gift (average is $200, but I don't always give that if I'm in the wedding party and have already spent a ton) bang bridesmaid

he did tell me we're wearing suits instead of tuxes, so that's a plus. everything else, i guess, is manageable. i'm sure this wedding's just going to set off a maelstrom of other weddings though.

his brother's the best man.

Is being the best man really that much more expensive? Of the two weddings I've been in so far, I don't think the best man has really incurred any additional costs. Basically participating in bachelor parties is expensive; renting tuxes are expensive; traveling to weddings and getting hotel rooms are expensive; buying nice gifts are expensive. Weddings are expensive.

Don't feel any shame at all drinking the open bar dry. Or eating like 7 of the crab cake appetizers that are so good.

If you're a responsible adult and you're in the wedding it is
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Hard to imagine a much better job.

Both weddings I've attended since being allowed to drink, the bartenders were miserable grouches that looked at me funny when I went to get my 8th drink.

I once forgot my ID at my Aunt's wedding, being like 24 at the time, and the douchebag bartender wouldn't serve me a drink even though a dozen people were standing there going, "He's 24." Really delayed my drinking via handoff by all of a minute and a half

@ housh, sk

that's absurd. we get a few wedding gigs at my job and pretty much all the bartenders line up to get it. easy money, awesome atmosphere, can probably drink a little bit yourself... what's not to love?

Having just gotten married, I can assure you, it's pretty close to that.
"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

i've worked a lot of weddings at a hall in my hometown. it can be pretty damn fun and you know that if you get done the cleanup fast enough you're going to tag one of the girls who you've been flirting with and told you to meet up with them afterwards. pretty much the easiest lays ever.

Your and my sense from receiving hundreds of gifts pales to Calvin's giving five.
