anyone have any tourist/living experience in Roanoke VA? have a potential job offer down there.

i went to school in blacksburg for a year which is close to roanoke. all i really know about it is there is a big star statue overlooking the town and that it has a fudruckers.

Well, Squeeze has about three dozen tuneful songs they can pull out their collective asses and have you swearing this was your favorite song by the second verse; so as long as they give them enough time on stage I'm sure this will be worth it. They're definitely there to entertain, too, in a very non-pretentious way. At least they were last time I saw them, and one doubts they've developed pretensions in the interim.

I saw Cheap Trick in a free 4th of July show a few years back and that was about right. They have a few songs I don't mind hearing again, and of course everyone can sing along with Surrender. Among arena rock bands of the 70s they would be about the most palatable to me.

I'm a little worried about the dynamics of the crowd and whether all the Cheap Trick fans will regard Squeeze as wankers and Squeeze fans seeing Cheap Trick as idiots. There's not a lot of commonality between "I Want You to Want Me" and "Pulling Mussels from a Shell". it's too bad Gilson Lavis isn't touring with Squeeze, or at least both bands would have large drummers in common.

I think I've talked myself into going if I can get tickets.
