The IOC should ban Olympic Mascots.

Apparently each Olympic Games since 1968 has had a mascot, but I can't say I remember any prior to Yeti or whatever Vancouver's was called.

I think Atlanta's was "Whatizit" or something like that. It wasn't anything really other than a blue blob.

This is the only one I remember. I had a white hat that McDonalds was giving away that had him on it.

That looks vaguely familiar. I definitely remember the logo though. My folks bought a VCR in 1984 (Beta!) that was by an official sponsor and had that logo on it.

I had two summer classes a couple years ago with a crazy amount of work for each of them. For the one class, I had to write 5 pages for each session, in addittion to a 20 page final project. It was a fucking 100 level course too! Anyway, I had an internship going on at the same time for 30 hours a week so I pretty much didn't have much of a life. It really just encouraged me to get my weekly drinking crammed into Saturday night.

blob makes it sound a little more distinctive than it actually was. My kids have one of these around somewhere that my brother, who lives in Atlanta, bought for them, I believe in the spirit of irony.

it's actually pretty amazing that all they had to do was improve on the awful "Cobi" from Barcelona and failed so miserably.

The mascots aren't any worse than the Olympic logo, which if you remember, was likened to a cartoon having oral sex.

In an emergency, the saucer section can detach from the engineering hull. Command is transferred to the battle bridge.

Same here. Forget if it was Sharp or Sanyo or whatever "S" brand not Sony, but I remember it had the olympic sponsor sticker. Couple years later, they sprung the $700 or so for a Sony Betamax that had all kinds of cool editing effects.

The 1st 2 is pretty obvious. the 2 and 0 are on the top, 1 and 2 on the bottom.
