Where the heck is the New POLITICS Thread?

(Of course you didn't. Because the point of the quiz, upon reflection, was to figure out where along the 2d spectrum someone lies. it can't be done in 10 questions if all the answers neatly sum up the obvious liberal/conservative/etc position. Having 10 liberal answers wouldn't tell you much. It's when you have to decide if the "classic" liberal position is a little too over-the-top to support where the ability to segment the population comes into play. The idea is that some of the answers are going to be libertarian leaning to see if they can ensnare any liberals or conservatives, and some answers will all be different shades of liberal to see if a libertarian or statist is tempted to choose it. )

Of course I didn't because I emailed you an hour before you made this post about it and said I ended up conservative leaning statist.

Which is hilarious because just about any issue that gets me really worked up (eminent domain, affirmative action) falls to the libertarian side. I'm anti-religion more or less, which somehow didn't figure much into that quiz. The answers were poorly written by someone who is blatantly a libertarian ideologue who has no idea how to express the ideas of people who aren't staunch libertarian ideologues.

The kos thread on Massa retiring is utterly hilarious. 80% talking about how great a man he is, 15% ripping on Politico for "carelessly" speculating about why he isn't running for reelection, 5% getting shouted down after saying uh guys he probably committed sexual harassment.

As for Politico, you know how I know it's the best publication going? RedState and Kos both think it is biased against them.

A Louisiana sheriff plans to arm volunteers with shotguns, riot shields, batons, and a 50-caliber machine gun mounted on a "war wagon," as part of "Operation Exodus," a plan to provide security in the event of a terrorist attack or civic unrest. "It's a calling," he says.

The office of Sheriff Larry Deen of Bossier Parish last month selected for the program 200 local residents -- mostly ex-law-enforcement personnel -- and began training them in "defensive techniques in the event of a struggle," reports the Shreveport Times. The plan calls for the new recruits to be sent to protect food from grocery stores, gas from gas stations, and other crucial local resources, should the situation demand it.

You know what kills me? Let Massa go. If he did fuck up, he's taking care of it himself so we don't have to. He's not a hero for quitting, but he is saving a lot of people a lot of money by just leaving and at least deserves a grim nod of "you're doing the right thing" on his way out the door.

He's not resigning from office. And he didn't step down from the committee until he caught a lot of heat (probably a lot of stuff behind closed doors).

A pic from Operation Exodus training:

Not for nothing but this looks like a still from the movie Cocoon. What the hell is Wilford Brimley doing signing up for the Exodus program?

Mine came out libertarian, with me slightly more liberal than conservative.

I came out literally dead center.

Why wouldn't you then make your own soda or sweet tea? I guess taking diet soda and adding sugar on your own could make it taste outrageously sweet, but it'd be worth a shot.

I'm gonna get me a van, and load it up with low tax soda pop from Jersey, drive across the Ben, and sell it at all the local playgrounds and schools and shit.

Screw that. You'd have to pay the bridge toll. Just go on the other side of City Line. I can just imagine how pleased a grocer who lives right near the city limits would feel. $2.88 tax on a 12 pack of Coke? Yeah, I'd drive the extra few minutes.
