It disturbs me how much less structured and focused my life feels when it's not baseball season.

They can close down one city block without too much trouble; they do it all the time. Outside of the day time, starting at 8 p.m. would make a lot more sense than starting at 12.

Besides, I reserve the right to be upset whenever excruciating, long-lasting noise comes through my window at midnight.

Possibly. It could have other benefits like that one episode of Seinfeld where George gives up sex, and it turns out he's really smart.

I would do it now, but if I had a girlfriend and was getting it on the reg it'd be a tougher decision. That's really tough. Maybe the toughest hypothetical question ever.

Do you definitely NOT get any sex for six months?

Do you get to not have your sex knowing that you've got a SB win coming or are you just sitting there wondering what's wrong with you?

Either way, I would do it.

Our new copier has volume settings; it can be used at CD player.

I wish I could say I'm pumped, but we really didn't need a new copier. Give me a raise.

This woman at the bus stop who I often talk to told me today that her husband was pretty high up in the sanitation department. I really wanted to ask her if we ever actually recycle anything, but I didn't have the nerve.

I get warnings all the time when I leave plastics/soda cans in with the regular trash. But maybe it's just my municipality.

Well, they say they recycle. But I've seen garbagemen in Philadelphia pick up recyclables and trash right next to each other and throw them all in the same truck. I just get the feeling that more often than not, some person along the chain gets lazy or is in too much of a hurry, and combines the two to get the job done.

edit: what dude said

Is it just me or doesn't 12/21/2112 seem like a better date for the world to end than 12/21/2012?

Around here, it's apparently a huge cost savings for the municipality to promote recycling because the cost to dump each truck at the landfill. Just after we moved they switched to RecycleBank and gave every house a 96 gallon container for comingled weekly recycling. We fill that thing to the brim every week, and only fill a smaller trash can with trash. It would be much less trash if not for diapers.

You get points for every pound of trash the municipality recycles (in someplaces you get points based on what YOU recycle, but our trucks don't have the barcode readers). But unfortunately the points reward system is pretty useless.

I know I've told the story before, but when I was working as a garbage man at the beach, the recycling would usually end up 10% trash, and if it was buried in the can, we weren't making enough money to go sorting through it. Into the garbage truck it went.

Throwing recycling in a garbage can isn't really a big deal since it's only the one can/bottle that you aren't recycling. Throwing trash in a recycling bucket is really lazy and screws up a greater amount of refuse.
