It's gotten to the point where I'm going to be massively let down if I don't get this job in California. It's probably 50/50 at this point. I think it would be awesome. I really want to have a job. And drive across the country. And have a car.

That pisses me off and it didn't even happen to me. It must be one of those empathy things.

Really, maybe you can ask for your old job back, assuming you didn't tick anyone off leaving on short notice. They probably haven't hired anyone yet.

Proofing scots gaelic poems is weird. I know what the words sound like, but my Irish was always passable at best, so I've no idea of their meaning, nor their spelling. it's like fumbling around someone else's house in the dark, except it's the exact same layout as yours. Or something. It's doing my head in.

Bill, that's terrible, sorry to hear it.
Let's hope the Friday call was just to let you know quickly once they made the decision, and this week, there'll be follow up with better news of some kind. Doesn't sound like something the HR department would be very happy about either... I'll keep a good thought for you this week!
