Politics: Homo abortionists vs the born again gun nuts

Yeah, blimps are cool.

And while I would have voted for that resolution, I have no problem with Ron Paul essentially calling BS on its meaninglessness. If he doesn't feel like it's necessary to join his colleagues in issuing a meaningless tsk-tsk at the mullahs, that's his prerogative (and his refusal works, IMO, both as a commentary on the basic pointlessness of a collective opinion voiced without resources and a reiteration of the point I suggested about we as a country not liking it when we're rendered powerless); if his constituents in Texas think it's a particularly big deal, well, they know what to do.

(Skimming just for the graphs and the short accompanying analysis is worth it)

Yeah, I don't see this as a big deal at all. Probably he should have made sure he could be reached in case of emergency, but otherwise who cares? I'm guessing their legislative session is recently over, for one thing, so this is likely one of the slowest times in the year for state business.

I can picture the headline now:

"Impeached for hiking with cell-phone off. Oh the humanity!"

I am really surprised that you do not see a problem with a governor just disappearing. He didn't even tell his wife where he was going. Dajafi really hits the mark; he absolutely should have notified somebody where he was going. It was completely irresponsible for him to just take off. The guy doesn't exactly run a 7-11. I mean my governor is a tool but at least I know he is in Trenton and not MIA.

This is true. Emergencies can come up in a hurry. If the Governor is incapable or has rendered himself incommunicado, then that is the reason we have Lt Governors, and he should be in charge. The worst thing is the Governor seems to have decided that his unelected appointees will just handle any emergency by committee.

If Rendell was gone for 4 days without putting the LG in charge, it'd be a HUGE scandal, rightly so. This should be investigated

That could be the beginning of an interesting movie.

A Governor that disappears randomly for a few days on seemingly innocent cooldown vacations. But REALLY he is going to his hideaway where he has secretly imprisoned people to perform heinous acts upon to relieve his stress.

...meanwhile, North Carolina is strutting the usual bravado with nuclear testing and impromptu missle test launches, threatening a border incursion to move the border so the kitchy tourist spot "South of the Border" would be "North of the Border"...

The problem is that he also took a state vehicle, one with guns inside, and left unattended.

Of course, it was left at the airport, not on the App trail. He was also seen entering an airplane in Atlanta.

Maybe he was hooking up with Ensign's wife.

I'm good until your second sentence, which I'd replace with something like "But while he's gone, he is abducted by aliens who plan to use him as a deep sleeper agent in a long-term takeover of the Earth."

So now they're saying his car was found at the Columbia airport. In any case, it looks like the camping thing doesn't fly. Maybe he went to Iran to help his presidential bona fides, like Richardson did so often in going to the Middle East.
