Courtesy of the Red White and Blue and Beer for my Horses are arguably the two best country songs on a same album ever.

Well no, but Keith is a lot better than he gets credit for.

Drudge says that three sources are confirming that a company in Kansas City is preparing Obama-Bayh literature. Drudge has a picture of a bumper sticker and says that people close to the plant's operations reported that the material was being produced.

If Bayh's the choice, I'd be underwhelmed. He's so blah.

For people who haven't heard a lot of country I guess.

Two stories:

It's Not Bayh or Kaine

Activity at Biden's House

Since Bayh and Kaine were the choices I worried about, and Biden is the one of the most-discussed names I like the most, this is good stuff... announcement evidently is coming in the morning.

I like Joe Biden. If Obama wins, it would make me very happy to have him as VP.

Electorally I was hoping he'd choose Kaine, because I think he'd be a disaster.

I've had this strong association recently: Kaine = marshmallow

Did you see David Brooks's piece today? He's where you are, pretty much.

I opened it and read the first few paragraphs. What I saw made sense, and definitely confirmed how I've been feeling re: Obama putting Biden on the ticket. Plus I love him cause he's a Philly area guy. I laugh at people for voting due to race or religion or whatever, but I would totally vote if someone nominated someone from Jersey or the Philly metro area. I feel they understand life better.

I apologize if I've mentioned this before... Biden's dad and my grandfather were close friends. When I was a senior in college (Jan. 1995--not the happiest time for any young idealistic Democrat), I went to DC and basically hung out with him at his office for three hours--it was an informational interview, but there was no job. I sat in on a meeting he had, at which he introduced me as an intern with his office, with some group of environmental activists. Really friendly, honest, smart guy with a nicely self-deprecating sense of humor--he made fun of his own '88 campaign.

Then I ran into him at that pizzeria way up Wisconsin Ave. four years later when I was in grad school, and he didn't remember me at all until I told him my grandfather's name. Still was cool though when I asked him some geek questions while waiting for my pie.

I couldn't have supported him in the primaries after his support for that abominable credit card bill a few years ago, but I'd love to see him get it. Partly because I genuinely like the guy (other than his water-carrying for MBNA), and partly for the same reason as you.

I despise Joe Biden. I really wish I had a better reason than the Clarence Thomas hearings (mostly) plus a couple foot-in-mouth incidents, but I don't. So I'm not going to try to convince anyone that they should dislike Biden too, since the basis for my dislike is pretty flimsy. But I also wonder how widespread it might be.

Biden's okay as I don't think he can hurt Obama, but will he bring any votes to the table? Seems too safe to me.

A VP nomination can't really get you any votes. You're looking for someone who doesn't hurt you.

A friend works for a talk show that wanted to set up an interview with Joe Biden for next week. He told them that he couldn't set it up now because he didn't know which staff he was taking to Denver. Taking that at face value even the pick doesn't know.

Agreed. Edwards didn't deliver either Carolina. Bentsten didn't deliver Texas. Ferraro didn't deliver New York. You don't want to anger a segment that you are already shaky with. I think you want to emphasize your message. Obama is the outsider, McCain the maverick. Go with an insider and a party liner and you blunt your strength.
