My Party Should Respect Secret Union Ballots

Is George McGovern on the payroll of the Chamber of Commerce? Really a fun bitch slap to read this morning.

I really like Obama's Olympics ad.

Also, the political director at MoveOn.org has got to be about the biggest moron ever. Who designed that target list? Good god, that's poor.

79-19. Wow. Good for Memphis.

Just saw this, was about to post it, and I agree.

edit: also on the Olympics ad. A welcome break from the usual treacly strings and platitudes--at least that ad uses different, less familiar platitudes. And it subtly points up and contrasts with McCain's "bridge to the early 20th century" persona.

Moveon is clearly a Republican front group, designed to get the dumbest of the liberals to pay for negative ads against Democrats.

This Republican operative practically admits it:

“We wholeheartedly endorse this colossal waste of funds,” said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain. “Not only is MoveOn.org’s anti-drilling position out of step with 70 percent of Americans, but a member like Mike Conaway who represents the Texas oil patch will probably see his approval rating surge upward as a result of these ads."

There's a better variation to this:

"When you only know how to use a hammer, all problems begin to look like nails."

The further you get to the left or right I think there's a tendency to think that most people think like you and ignore all evidence to the contrary.

There actually aren't any variations of it, and both of you have it wrong. Mark Twain's quote was, "To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail."

Literal out.

Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby's birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.

A former campaign aide, Andrew Young, has said he was the father of the child.

She sure got around that campaign and staff.

Well, if it came out that Edwards was having an affair with a woman who had an abortion, that would have been 10x worse as far as scandals go.

Well, as long as his wife was in remission while he was shtupping the campaign aide.

I hope no one thinks I'm serious. Maybe he was responding to questions, but I just don't know why Edwards would offer details like the affair happened before his wife's cancer relapsed. Is that supposed to be exculpatory somehow?

I have always liked John Edwards, and I don't dislike him now. But I am disappointed.

Call me crazy, but while your wife is battling cancer seems like a sort of reasonable time to get a little on the side.

I'd say I'm disappointed in John Edwards.

I'm sure he could have done better. I mean look at Elliot Spitzer's paramour:
