I've got to get into contact with 3 of my old professors for letters of recommendation. I really don't want to have to do this. I've been putting this off since May.

They won't remember you, most likely.

Is this for a job, or for grad school?

Grad School. I know they aren't going to remember me, that's why I don't want to have to have these conversations. Lesson learned, I should have stockpiled a few of these before I graduated just in case.

I think writing LOR is actually something most professors enjoy. I know my professors in the Poli Sci department were happy to write me letters 2 years after I'd graduated.

I know it's probably not a big deal, I just hate having to ask people to do something for me.

I'll recycle one. Were you by any chance active in pre-law society? Did you right an insightful original paper on Hobbes?

By the way, it will be helpful when you ask to basically tell the person what they can say about you--briefly outline the course you took, highlighting any special projects/papers you may have done, and throw in a resume as well. Make sure to include a stamped envelop that's already addressed. Make it easy. Remember, it's summer, so it may take awhile to locate these people. Finally, send a short thank you note once you've been admitted and decided what program to attend.

A while ago we were talking about how many Starbucks there are clustered in Center City. According to this map:

http://photoskml.googlepages.com/Starbucks.htm

None of those are part of the 600 closings.

Despite this news, our stock is still up about 50% over the last week or so (I know it's still way down this year, but the rebound is good).

You should sell the stock now to fund your freewheeling nudist lifestyle in case you're one of the 10,700 that gets eliminated

Good news is that my job is safe.

By the way, Wachovia stock was up 27.4% today and more than 100% in the last eight days.

And, yeah, I'm not a nudist. I just end up at these parties every couple months or so where clothes leave the equation. These do tend to be fun parties.
FTN wrote:dude wrote an encyclopedia about hitchcock and cary grant, hes got all the money he needs.

That's not what it is. It's a book about Hitchcock's movies, of which Cary Grant starred in four. And it won't be published until 2009 so I'm looking at 2010 before I get real money for it. So, yeah, it would suck if I lost my job right now, but that's not happening so I'm not worried about it.

There's nothing to learn. You just have to befriend the right kind of people.
