What exactly is the "funny business"?

Because it's pretty weird that there's a mayor of the biggest city of a county who's talking about how there'll be something for the world to see for Obama and how it has almost the entire balance of the outstanding vote in the state, and that no one can call it yet.

And now there's a mayor from the county on CNN basically calling this effed up.

but what exactly is "wrong". What does weird mean? So this Hammond mayor says HRC won his town. Ok, unless it comes out that Obama's magically leading Hammond, what's the problem?

jeff, I'm not "indignant," more just suspicious. I want my guy to "win," but I'd rather he "lose" fair than take something crooked.

Note: this is an easy position for me to take, given that regardless of who gets bragging rights, the race is OVER. Woohoo!

ok, well so long as nobody who died in 1983 is voting or that votes for HRC are being discounted, I think you and CNN need to chill. There's nothing wrong with not releasing votes within 6 hours of closing the polls.

And that's still the question. I hope she goes on and kicks his ass in West Virginia and Kentucky. But she'd obviously be smart not to.

Bedtime.

Closing notes: John King is awesome. Barack Obama had a phenomenal night. Lake County is a fucking joke. Looks like Hill will hold on in Indiana.

True. What's that old adage for male politicians... "never get caught in bed with a dead woman or live man". Well, for Obama to blow the nomination, he'd have to be caught in bed with a dead male prostitute.

Funny thing is, if the Dem primaries were "winner take all" instead of proportional, HRC would have more "won" delegates even after today... 1416 for Clinton, 1401 for Obama... not counting Florida, Michigan, or Texas (I mean, HRC won the Texas primary and Obama won their caucus... that's just @#*!'ed up electioning).

Philly the Kid wrote:But here's my question -- let's say either Dem wins. What becomes of the neo-cons? Do they just wait it out for 4 years figuring "that poor suckah is so loaded down with our baggage he won't be able to do anything anyway", or do they have further preparations for the next 4 years?

I think that depends on where the Dem prez is on the political spectrum. If too liberal, we're likely looking at a Jimmy Carter-esque 4 years, an ineffective prez that gets little accomplished and is unable to enact their agenda. Coupled with the dung the GWB administration is leaving behind, the country might end up in worse shape come 2012. A moderate, more in the middle Dem would have a better chance of having a successful administration of some varying degree. In the case of the former, the neocons will be back in 4 years, laughing with glee with thoughts of another decade or two GOP dynasty. In the latter case, the neocons will have to work at it (like how they maligned Prez Bill Clinton) and do some morphing.

I'm actually surprised how well she's done overall, I thought Obama would start to run away with the thing... gonna be very very tense summer going in to that convention.

There is no way in Hades the party brokers would take the nomination away from the candidate they hand picked and groomed since 2004.

again PiP, just admit you're an HRC fan who doesn't like Obama. Besides pacino and dajafi, no one's going to hold it against you. But your shots at Obama are just gratuitous.

What shots at anyone, political or otherwise, aren't completely gratuitous in this thread?

Clinton secured the Indiana result after a late rush of votes for Obama from the city of Gary and surrounding Lake County dramatically narrowed her margin in a bizarre end to a long night of counting. Inexplicably, Lake County did not report any votes until nearly 11:30 p.m. and the county was still reporting precinct results after 1 a.m. today.

Dan Balz of the Washington Post was as confused as I was. He was just probably pissed it ran past his deadline.
