Today was the best day I've ever had as a Phillies fan. I was six in 1980 and wasn't able to fully appreciate it. I was 19 in 1993 and fully appreciated it, but I was in college in Dayton, OH and was a little detached from it. This year has been the best because I've been able to go to more games than ever before and I've been better able to follow along with every pitch than I have before. It's just been more fun the whole season.

Today just caps it beautifully. The crowd at the game was simply incredible. I've never exchanged as many high fives in my life as I did today. It was just an amazing experience seeing it all in person. Awesome stuff.

I was enjoying the game so much that I forgot to take pictures earlier.

Nice view of Aaron Rowand from section 146.

Image

I think this is Chase Utley at the plate.

Image

Rally towels were everywhere. The Phils did an awesome thing giving them out to everyone. They really do add something to the game experience.

Image

Division champs!

Image

The main scoreboard says it, too!

Image

Better shot.

Image

I couldn't get a good shot of it, but that's a 2007 NL East Division Champions flag just to the left of the Bell. Awesome that the Phils were prepared for it.

Image

More than an hour after the game, the scoreboard still said it while we did some post-game tailgating.

This day was just incredible and I caught some video of the last couple outs and then the post-game frenzy. Can't really see the action on the field, but these videos will tell you a little about how awesome it was to be at the game today.

I was just thinking about that earlier, actually. Did a batboy make sure to go retrieve the glove? Isn't it a big deal to have to break in a new one. (But I know what he means).

Burrell's dog chewed his glove up and then pooped on it.

it was the best of times, it was the worst of times

aka

phils win...and i am stuck in boston for the week, and will not be able to attend the 2 games i have tix for this week. and was stuck in planes most of the day today. and only got to a TV in time to watch the 2nd half of this retardely pathetic eagles game.

i agreed to go on this business trip about 3-4 weeks ago. i even looked at the phils and the standings and decided that while the playoffs were possible, we'd be the wildcard team at best, and thus there was no way i'd miss any playoff games, should they occur.

instead i will be stuck in boston, stuck in a training class probably while the games are actually going on, and hoping my dad, brother, fiancee, and future in-laws or whoever else gets to use my tickets enjoys the games...and hope the phils advance to the LCS so i'll be able to see a playoff game in person this season.

it still doesn't seem real because i've only seen 2 or 3 quick highlights.

I forgot to tell an amusing post game celebration story.

When the players came back on the field after celebrating in the clubhouse Shane Victorino pulled a prank on the ball girls. He got two camera men and one really fat camera man to walk over and tell the girls that they wanted to get their picture. They were standing right behind the netting directly to my right. Shane was hiding behind the fat one and when they got close enough he popped our from behind them and dosed the girls with beer.

I think Victorino would be in prison for some sort of Spring Break debacle if he weren't a baseball player.

Heckuva day.

My son's football game was in the middle of the 4th quarter when I busted out the phone to get a Mets update. It's 7-0, top of the first.... I started screaming like an idiot, told everyone at the game. Pointed and laughed, hard, at the dad who's a Mets fan. Got home in time to watch innings 3-, and it was a beautiful thing.

Let's kick some playoff ass.
