My son's football game was in the middle of the 4th quarter when I busted out the phone to get a Mets update. It's 7-0, top of the first.... I started screaming like an idiot, told everyone at the game. Pointed and laughed, hard, at the dad who's a Mets fan. Got home in time to watch innings 3-, and it was a beautiful thing.

Let's kick some playoff ass.

not even you jerking with my perfectly fine thread could derail this train.

9th inning on CW57 (Harry K)

Thanks tons for that, BigEd. Somehow managed to put myself out of range of all computers, radios and tvs today, and felt like I'd missed the party. Feel much better now that I've been able to see the ninth from start to finish. Also great to be able to read the whole game thread and view things through others eyes as they happened. Thanks to everyone who pitched in EVEN THOSE WHO SEEM MORE CONCERNED WITH THEIR PETTY PERSONAL BATTLES THAN THE GAME GOING ON YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

Sentimentalist in me found in nice that Coste was the catcher who got to embrace the finishing pitcher at the end.

Don't have any sentiment toward Meyers, but he was the guy who needed to close this game.

Lets' hope they can all sleep it off by Wednesday.

the only thing that could have made today better would have been Scott Graham calling the final out instead of Franzke. He would have nailed it and made the greatest PTOITWCFTPP ever.

Having surgery to re-attach his arm? Or he just hates the fans because they were on him earlier this year....

Thanks for that.

Is it bad that I like the start where Harry says, "Bot-Top half of the 9th inning."

I had to work all day but got to see the 2-run single by Howard, Rollins' triple, and the clinching K by Myers. 13 hour shift with no break and the last half went by like I was floating on air. I wish I could bottle the feeling and sell it like crack. I'd make a fortune.

I just got finished watching the whole thing and it was like a well written script.

Feckin' right we do.

Hah. Came back to work on my first day, completely forgot our governing board are in for a meeting, and I'm wearing my phillies shirt. As my wife put it:

'The thing is, no one is going to get this. I mean, it's not like you won the world series or anything. they're all going to wonder why you're celebrating the equivalent of getting into a quarter-final in the world cup.'

Party pooper. Even she is, however, a tiny bit amused at my little victory dances this morning. And the ear to ear grin.

WHY DON'T ANY OF YE LIVE OVER HERE, DAMMIT! I need to get drunk with phillies phans.

I never listen to sports radio, but I was having fun flipping between 610, 950, and 1210 (where Smirk talks about Phillies).

The 950 callers were having a lot of fun trashing 610, and how none of them (callers, hosts) should be celebrating anything because they're a bunch of posers who were trashing the team as recently as Friday.

Many of them were saying they were looking forward to Eskin hanging up on them when the call this afternoon to heckle him.

Salisbury was on 1210 saying that he's covered the Phillies for 20 years and he doesn't think the team has ever had a manager they liked as much as Charlie. Then he went on to perform a sermon on the Church of Grit.

All I get on talk radio is how great the Bucs are and how awesome it is that the USF Bulls are ranked #6.

Oh yeah, the Phillies won the East. Back to the Bucs. . . .

Peh.

Set your DVRs...

Channel 57 will broadcast the Phillies' National League East-clinching win over Washington tonight at 10 o'clock.
"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "
