Go fuck yourself

I bet a bunch of people can speak from experience here

Including myself.

Its a fucking recreational drug, period. Whether it hits closer to home or not for individuals doesn't mean people have to plunge baseball bats into their anuses you fuck.

His start was moved to Monday

That's right! And this took place on Sunday.

It's no less depressing now at all. He seemed like a nice young guy. Wish I would have got to see him more. Selfishly there because he wasn't a normal talent. Kershaw and him are two that I have to watch if the Phillies aren't playing at the same time.

I think most people mess up at that age and he just happened to have the entire world by the balls and his young and crazy probably made him pay him and his friends lives for it. He probably would have received the biggest contract that any pitcher ever has. Doesn't matter now.

I know! Let's all pretend we know what it's like to be his age with his money and his opportunities and his pressures, and be absolutely certain about our positions!!!

The guy was a fantastic baseball player, and had an easy-to-like style about him - his smile and energy and general comportment on the field. Like most of these guys, we don't know dick about what he's like behind closed doors. It's not our business, though we've tried to make it so. It will ALWAYS lead to disappointment, but we keep doing it anyway.

I am just speaking on a personal level but when I was first told about that it actually crushed me and I know it crushed others a lot more. Rarely do I somehow find enjoyment in watching someone dominate the Phillies. He had that going.

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1892 ... atal-crash
MIAMI -- The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission concluded in its nearly six-month investigation that former Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez was the operator of the speeding boat that crashed and killed Fernandez and two others in the early morning of Sept. 25, 2016.

According to public records obtained by ESPN on Thursday, the FWC's final report confirmed alcohol and drugs were involved. It also concluded that Fernandez violated multiple boating laws, including Boating Under the Influence Manslaughter, Vessel Homicide and Reckless or Careless Operation of a Vessel.

Jose Fernandez was the operator of the boat that crashed into a Miami Beach jetty, killing the Marlins ace and his two friends. WPLG
Fernandez's blood alcohol level was .147 and there was "noted presence of cocaine," according to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's toxicology report.

The speed of the 32-foot vessel during the impact of the crash on the north side of a jetty was 65.7 miles per hour. Fernandez, Eduardo Rivero and Emilio Macias died at the scene due to blunt force impact and drowning.

The report also included a text message exchange that night between Rivero and Maria Arias, Fernandez's girlfriend. She told Rivero the pair had been arguing and asked him to take care of Fernandez. "He's been drinking and is not in the best state of mind."

Teams really need to learn to stop honoring people immeditaely after people who die in circumstances like this. It makes them look really stupid.

Nah, they'd look pretty callous if they were like 'well he could have been drunk so let's not do anything'.

The Eagles still honored Jerome Brown after what he did, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Could go with a simple moment of silence and say that a tribute will be forthcoming at a later date (that may or may not occur).

Did they do anything other than mourn him? Obviously those actions are for the comfort of the living, regardless of how their friend/teammate/favorite player died.

Well they know this now, 6 months later. Look at everyone's reaction from that day. I might not have retired his number or anything but you need a moment of silence, allow the memorial outside the stadium, put the patch on the uniforms, etc.
