That Hawes signing looks so dumb for them

they didn't sign him, they traded Lance Stephenson for him 8-)

I think someone will be happy to take that pick for his 6 million dollar salary

I have no idea, tbh, but until a week ago everyone said this draft was #ass.

Well I think it's because 2.5 - 14 is pretty weak, the .5 depending on how much hype you assign to the riff raft (Dunn, Chriss, Bender, etc.). The 2nd half seems better than normal, but again it could be I'm hearing a lot more about these players since I listen to the Bodcast.

It definitely seems like analysts are more excited about 15-30 than they were last year. But that could be because they're not spending as much time and thought on 3-14, yeah

yeah, it's a bummer as far as getting a gem in the lottery, but the second half and even second round looks full of role players

kinda the opposite of last year

no, I get the sense there are no SURE FIRE guys in this but there won't be a ton of huge flopouts. the floors for some of these guys are higher because they seem more shapeable. There's just less iso ball in general that is being played at lower levels than there used to be, which makes it easier to see the guys who do more things for what they are.

someone will be 'over' drafted but still be a decent guy.

I think there's plenty of flopout potential in the lottery, where GMs are expected to get guys who aren't just role players. all of Brown, Murray, Chriss, Bender, Korkmaz, Hield could totally bust

A lot of international guys dropped out last year which hurt the 2nd half of the draft. Solid crop this year.

flop out like McBuckets you mean? or merely just be a bench guy?

Also I'm dumb. I don't know why thought I remembered them signing Hawes.

you know what's crazy? he thinks he's going to get paid this offseason...he's opting out of his 2 year Nets deal. you know what's crazier? he may actually get paid.

I can solve all of this

Dunn - Successful NBA with a couple of all star appearances
Brown - Flop
Murray - Successful NBA starter
Chriss - Flop
Bender - Flop horribly
Korkmaz - Flop
Hield - 6th man of the year scorer

Follow that and you will win GM of the year

All I know is I want Colangecollars to be patient and get his point guard in next year's draft.

I'd have a lot more confidence in (1) Hinkie doing this.

If you believe the theory that Hinkie was compelled by management to draft Jah and trade for Ish, not sure your confidence in Hinkie being able to be patient is well placed. Ownership created and then destroyed the environment in which Hinkie worked and applied his vision. Prudence might be here still but I think patience went out the door with hinkster.

* Jaylen Brown and Marquese Chriss were both strong college players. Why do you say conventional guys? Providence is a second rate program to most people in the U.S. beyond the Big East fans.

Yes. Bender and Korkmaz are both severely high risk - impossible projections and not having a track record vs. legit competition is concerning. Pull the international draft results from picks #5 thru #15 (where these guys are projected) for the past 5 years. The draft is littered with bleh.

2011
1 5 Jonas Valančiūnas (Average)
1 6 Jan Veselý (Awful)
1 7 Bismack Biyombo (Average)

2013
1 15 Giannis Antetokounmpo (Stud)

2014
1 5 Dante Exum (Bleh)
1 12 Dario Šarić (Bleh)

2015
1 5 Mario Hezonja (Bleh)
1 7 Emmanuel Mudiay (Average)

Marc Stein

The growing sense in league circles is that the Suns are determined to move either Bledsoe or Brandon Knight before the start of next season
