BTW, if you want to be real about it, they can replace Cooper with an undrafted rookie and not miss a single, unproductive beat.

Is it official?

Sounds alright I guess. All options had risks and "factors to weigh out". If Bradford surprises his detractors and actually performs above average - maybe we have our QB for the next 3 years and we can make a run one year? If he gets hurt - then he's done anyway in the league other than back up if he doesn't retire. If he plays poorly or league average just a hair better than Sanchize - then he'll be out anyway as you can't do much with that --

If 26mil is the guarantee that's not40-50mil and if it does end up a one year deal - then it's a bit worse than franchising him in total money but more favorable to the cap I'd presume -- so both sides can see what's what. Get us to and win a playoff game - and be in the top 12 QBs- and a new deal will follow this one I'm sure.

This year is going to be all about culture and stability at Novacare. Get things back to the "Eagle-way" -- and improved D, steady offense - won't break any records with points and yards - but has potential to win some games. There is some talent there.

Again - Murray/Mathews last year combined for 1200 and 12 TDs. Shouldn't be worse. Plus Sproles.

I think this also gives Doug Pederson a chance to see what he can be as head-coach. Tough road to hoe with no legit QB in year 1 of a make-over a team and its culture.

Where are all the Howie haters right now? Has he really done anything super wrong this off season thus far?

It's risky to move back. They've done it a bunch in the last ten years and don't have a lot to show for it.

They have 2 3rd round picks. As i've pointed out over n over - 3rd round picks historically have not been fruitful for the Birds. The only stay in last 20 years being Brian Westbrook. Others include Foles, Stew Bradley, Derrick Burgess - more recently they did ok with Bennie Logan and perhaps Jordan Hicks last year - Huff is more the usual what one gets in 3rd round.

I doubt our two 3rds will get us a 2nd. But a 1st and 3rd for another teams 1st and2nd could happen. Then we still have the other 3rd.

Thing is - Fletcher Cox was #12 overall. If one of those monster OTs is there at #13, don't you just take the guy and be sure you get one probable stud starter? If you move back - how far and who do you get?

I hate picking need as opposed to best player available. Time and again it doesn't work out --

to me, this seems perfect to take a QB high. have him play under Bradford for 1 year(maybe 2) and then insert him into the starting role.

$20M signing bonus
2016 = $6M base guaranteed
2017 = $10M base

I also saw something about an extra $4M in playoff incentives

Why not save money and sign Chase Daniel if that is the plan?

I don't think they wanna rebuild .... just hand the reins over to the next guy and not lose a beat .... similar to what Green Bay did with Favre/Rodgers

Yea, but when you're a shitty team, I'm not sure if you have the luxury of using a first rounder on a guy who isn't going to play or how valuable it is to have a young QB apprentice under a pretty average QB

Right. It's not the plan. Everyone keeps saying "grab someone". Who? Grab who?

Assume Wentz and Goff are gone off the board by #13. Who then?

It assumes that this mystery pick is EVER better than Bradford in 1-2-3 year or ever?! Not necessarily the case.

Brads is 28. He's now another year removed from the injury. Pederson should have a QB friendly scheme for him. The D should be better. The running game better. Agholor better. Celek and Ertz got paid. Murray is making good money. Conditions are good for Bradford. Let's just see how it goes. We don't have a 3rd QB, and I'm sure they will get one in the draft or somewhere else. Another year using Sanchize as insurance on Bradford and then he's probably gone anyway.

At this point now, Romo and Eli can't have much time left and who knows if Cousins is a long term answerin Wash? If Brad doesn't work out - then we'll be in the same place as the rest of our division in 2-3 years -- everyone looking for an elite franchise guy. They are hard to come by. That's why Carson Palmer is still in the league, and Romo has never been cut, and Jay Cutler has been given a 100 chances to make it work out, and Rivers and and Stafford and Ryan.

No SB rings there in that group and not even a lot of playoff wins. it's really hard.

Donovan and RC look a lot better in hindsight --

Withholding comment Bradford deal til see full contract. No one gets 72% of deal guar, or $26M guar on just a 2yr deal. Color me a skeptic

Which is why whoever they pick at #13 needs to make an impact now. Not a #3 QB, not a backup RT. That's why I want Treadwell

Personally I'd be very surprised if this is how the deal breaks down. A $20m signing bonus would be stunning to me. I also doubt the $26 million is all true guarantees.

If you pick up an OT, he's probably spending a year or two at G and then shifting over once Peters leaves. I doubt he'd actually ride the bench unless he's terrible.

Yeah offensive lineman is going to make more of an impact that a WR would on this team, at least in year 1.

More details on Bradford:

$11M signing bonus
2016 = $7M base salary (fully guaranteed)
2017 = $18M base salary ($4M guaranteed now, $4M roster bonus due 3/17/17, another $4M guaranteed if there's a major injury)
Extra $3.5M in incentives available
