Take your PEDs - Eagles - off-seasoning

Mathis blasts CHiP

Kelly was not willing to rework Mathis’ contract, as the previous Eagles regime had. Most players would use their agent to handle such a task. Mathis directly texted Kelly with a YouTube video of Engelbert Humperdink singing, “Please release me, let me go. …’’
.
.
“There were many things that Chip had done that showed me he wasn’t building a championship team. Two of the main issues that concerned me were: 1. A never-evolving, vanilla offense that forced our own defense to play higher than normal play counts. 2. His impatience with certain personality types even when they were blue-chip talents. The Broncos team I was on would have eaten Chip alive. I don’t think he could have handled the plethora of large personalities.”
.
.
The Eagles extended an offer but Mathis and his agent Drew Rosenhaus decided to table negotiations until after the season so he could focus on football.

After that 2014 season, Roseman was stripped of some authority while Kelly was given full control of football operations. When Rosenhaus reached out to resume negotiations, Kelly said he had no knowledge of previous negotiations.

"Since I wasn’t going to be paid what I was offered and I wouldn’t simply be given better incentives to play for a coach who wasn’t building a winning team, I decided I wanted out of Philadelphia. I hope Chip learns from his experiences in Philadelphia and grows as a coach. Maybe he’ll find some constructive criticism from this."

Didn't flippin' Mathis expressly deny asking to be released? I wish more people were embarrassed to admit that the publicly and clearly lied. I'm old fashioned that way.

Seems like a lot of post-hoc rationalizations from Mathis meant to fit his own i'm-too-clever-for-the-world self image

He always admitted to asking for his release in March during peak FA. He just got pissed that they didn't release him until June or whenever it was. The dude just won a super bowl and still seems bitter. Snowflake needs to simmer down.

Also - if I were a Bronco offensive player - I wouldn't really be puffing my chest out. They didn't win anything for the team.

Which vanilla offense is he talking about? The one that recorded a franchise scoring record in 2013 and ran all over the entire fucking league, or the one that broke the scoring record again in 2014?

Play counts? I guess...but this reads like it was copied and pasted from beat writer post-Chip article. I refuse to believe Mathis at the time wanted to leave town b/c "Chip wasn't building a championship organization." He'd have signed with the Philadelphia Soul had they been the highest bidder

2. His impatience with certain personality types even when they were blue-chip talents. The Broncos team I was on would have eaten Chip alive. I don’t think he could have handled the plethora of large personalities.”

I suppose a fair criticism, but would he really have us believe this was one of the reasons that Mathis asked to be released? GTFO. You wanted more guaranteed money and caused a fuss about and then got released because of it, cut the shit

To be fair though he did it slightly faster than the Bills did in 1991

I don't think he's lying, he's just painting his own history with orange and blue glasses.

The whole context is about why he wanted out of Philly (if they weren't going to pay him). And the reason was, "Chip wasn't building a championship team"

...okay sure, whatever Ev.

While I can't take away the fact that he is a Super Bowl Champion, woefully underpaid but smarter than everyone basically paid an additional 2 million+ to get it.

the color scheme and design sort of ran parallel to the Iverson era for the sixers. midnight green reminds me of Donovan McNabb. they should scrap it and go throwback like the Sixers. the black is just dumb
