Seems like a classic Banner/Roseman style cap deal. The player gets more but the cap short term gets a bit back. Also secure a player in his prime for the rest of his best years. Further stabilizes the locker room. Rewards a perceived leader.
I'm really curious as to where Connor Barwin stands with the franchise now? And with Jim Schwartz??

Although some speculated that Connor Barwin may transition from a 3-4 linebacker to a 4-3 linebacker, Schwartz told the Eagles' website recently that Barwin fits on the defensive line.
"I think he fits real well for what we're going to do in the defensive end standpoint," Schwartz said. "He's done that in the past. He did that when he was first drafted in Houston and he had a lot of productivity there. I think most of the plays that he made were rushing the passer. I think that size-wise, effort-wise, skill set-wise, he fits well there."
