I went to Opening Day 2005 vs. the Nationals for the first game in the team's history. One of their players hit a home run, which was promptly thrown back. "That idiot threw back the first home run in Washington Nationals history." I thought.

Fast forward to June 2007. I'm in the Baseball HOF Museum, and what do they have on display in their Washington Nationals exhibit? The team's first home run ball, Citizen's Bank Park, Opening Day 2005.

I can't help but think that idiot didn't just throw a bunch of tickets and valuable memorabilia back onto the field by caving to peer pressure...

not sure, but they caught it on camera in the one game
a guy caught a ball and casually handed to his wife, who then made it seem like she gave the same ball back and he threw it
