Oh my. I do remember that. I remember when gas went to 49 9/10 and we knew that the days of muscle cars were close to all done. Bummer.

You've spent way too much time on Guitar Hero, because Jack White is an amazing guitarist.

And Meg White may be the worst drummer ever to be in a commercially successful band.

Between the two of them, that's a net negative in musicianship. And I don't own Guitar Hero... yet.

I second Jack White's guitar playing ability..... He is the man, and original as can be..... it's almost refreshing to listen to him.....

I would find it much easier to listen to the White Stripes if Meg were a competent drummer. I mean, really, she is just very bad and has shown no signs of getting any better. Does she even practice at all?

Yes. Federal Way, a truly silly name for a town. I grew up in Upper Darby, went to Penn State and started moving around.

Maybe this board bleeps out the word suicidal too. Maybe jemagee typed something completely different, like "Jose Mesa", but the board filter replaced it with suicidal. But why would an MTV video have the words "Jose Mesa"? The truth is out there, but every time I try to grab it it slips through my fingers like quicksilver.

Meh. I'm always a little suspicious of this. I can remember the first time I ever "saw" the Talking Heads was on SNL in some common area of college. Of course the first words from anyone in the crowd was "They've got a chick playing bass!", said with contempt. For a long time Tina Weymouth's playing was generally regarded as awful. Now, if you listen to old Talking Heads songs, I doubt anyone thinks, "what a terrible bass player".

I think Meg White suffers from two things. One is that the way the "band" is constituted the drumming is much more up front and in your face, just due to the fact that there are so few other musicians. This is a sound generally associated with more amateurish groups who haven't really figured out how to mix things yet. Two is sexism-female players in rock are still greeted with a lot of skepticism.

Given what a perfectionist Jack White is in other areas, the band probably sounds exactly like he wants the band to sound. Anyone is free to like that or not, but I doubt the substitution of a "better" drummer would somehow improve the band. In fact, it wouldn't really be the White Stripes at all.

I agree with this in part--the band sounds the way Jack White wants them to sound. On the other hand, no one is going to confuse Meg White with Clem Burke.

Meg White's drumming actually reminds me a lot of Keith Moon's drumming on early Who records.

We're on the same page, at least. I LOVE Clem Burke's drumming. And I'm not saying she's a talented drummer-just that the drumming can really only get in the way of the enjoyment of a White Stripes song if you let it.

Left the toilet paper on the roll last night. Not a good thing to do when you've got a cat.

Needless to say, that roll is no more.

My cat knows that I will end it's life if it tried any of that shit. Our toilet paper stays on the roll at all times. He does, however, have an awesome habit of fishing Q-Tips out of the bathroom trash and hiding them under the couch while we're at work.

My cat goes after q-tips, too. Unfortunately, she goes after anything cylindrical, which is why we found a neat pile of not only q-tips, but pens, pencils, and even the little tubes that tampons come in under our bed. Strange.
