I finally watched the prince fielder retirement. Damn.

And did you know he hit the same amount of homers as his father?

Never would've guessed that he'd end up on an NL squad, even with that Stanton injury maybe ending his regular season.

I'm glad you posted that. I'd seen the headline about him singing in a Denny's and was afraid he was mumbling into his Grand Slam Breakfast.

I may try to make chitty chitty bang bang the next movie I watch with my daughter. Time for a non-cartoon movie.

I think the last time I saw it was at the drive in movies like a zillion years ago, back before I discovered my ole bamboo.

His agent thought he sucked so bad bad that he didn't want to dignify it by calling it playing.

it would be really weird to bring in a guy who is toast to replace your best hitter in the middle of your first playoff hunt in years

Cubs say they've fired person who made 'irresponsible music selection' after Aroldis Chapman pitched
that song? Smack my bitch up

"We apologize for the irresponsible music selection during our game last night," President of Baseball Operations Crane Kenney said in a statement. "The selection of this track showed a lack of judgment and sensitivity to an important issue. We have terminated our relationship with the employee responsible for making the selection and will be implementing stronger controls to review and approve music before public broadcast during our games."

Earlier this year, Chapman was accused of choking his girlfriend during a dispute at their Florida home and firing eight shots from a gun in the garage. After investigating the incident, authorities declined to file charges, citing conflicting and insufficient evidence, according to reports.

Little bit of controversy/confusion around former filthy Met Doc Gooden of late, as he missed a scheduled interview on Thursday and, when asked about, former teammate Darryl Strawberry implied that Doc was having trouble keeping clean. Doc denies this is the issue, but the fact is he doesn't look too good, so here's hoping it all works out.

But that is not why I post about Gooden. I started this post because, as a result of reading an article about this controversy and seeing how poorly Dwight Gooden looked, I decided to look him up on baseball-reference. In 1996, he started 29 games for the Yankees, and posted a 5.01 ERA... good enough for a 100 ERA+ that year.

Steroids. Gotta love 'em.

Makes you appreciate just that much more what Pedro did from 98-00 with the Sawx.

Good to know that while smacking your girlfriend around will get you suspended for a while, playing a song about it to focus attention on someone who does will get you thrown out on the street.
