It not like his bats, jerseys, and balls aren't in the hall. He just doesn't have a plaque. If they want to really represent him they should display his betting slips.

Matheny is butt hurt that Heyward pointed out that the core of the Cards team is older than that of the Cubs.

Billy Hamilton had 165 steals in 2012. That's a lot.

And he slides real good.

He'd probably have about that many if he could actually get on base in the Majors. But he's pretty stinky.

Joel Sherman article on the Yankees juggling payroll and trying to not be a disaster like the Phillies

The Yankees are one of six teams that have yet to sign a major league free agent this offseason. That groups them with teams in full rebuild such as the Brewers, Phillies and Reds.

The Phillies’ presence is instructive. The Yankees have been trying for several years — most intensely now — to avoid the Philadelphia story: Five years of high-end contention followed by a steady plummet to the majors’ worst record in 2015. The fall was based on having too many aging/declining players locked up in long-term contracts and too little impact coming from their farm system.

....then the article talks about having almost 10 players with contracts nobody wants
