No sweat. We all get pinged once in a while. One thing that's difficult for almost everyone is the concept of a big league player changing his game dramatically. Rollins strengths were many. One was his power was pretty valuable. He was never gonna be a slap hitter. He would suck at it. He maximized his strengths. He stole bases very well. He was part of the Phillies record setting success rate. He hit lots of extra base knocks and homers. That helped the Phils win. He was a really good defender too. That's a damn good combination.

You see a little guy and think he should be a slap hitter, keep it on the ground, use the speed. That wasn't Rollins' game though. His game was very valuable.

I'm a casual phan: I don't mind conceding that I could be wrong about Rollins and his game.

In general, I hate how this town overrates guys who "wear their heart on their sleeves" while shitting on the guys who have more laconic personalities. It's amazing that someone like Kruk is more beloved than Schmidt to me.

FWIW, a big reason my old man doesn't like Jimmy is some of the comments he's made over the years. For someone who's coldly logical most of the time, it's hilarious anytime you mention the words "Red Town" around him: he'll get into a five minute rant about the Phillies being fourth on the totem pole and the Eagles always owning the city

I don't thin there was much of a group think about Rollins. Plenty here vented their frustrations at him. Degrading a guy who was a key part of the WC team with bad nicknames and saying he's your least favorite player is a dumb thing to do.

Sorry, new guy. Your first blunt, slightly rude SK posts. Welcome to the board!

Is it possible that Amaro has a drug or alcohol problem? I mean, he's occasionally so stupid that I wouldn't hire him to general manage a snack bar, yet he's a Stanford grad and GM of the Phillies.

If they fuck up the relationship with Utley in favor of the one with Sandberg, they deserve Sandberg, and Amaro.

I love the way Utley made sure that Cesar wasn't getting caught in the crossfire.

Utley, when informed of Amaro’s comments, responded by saying, “Well, I think Cesar has done a really good job -- there you go.”
