Here's what Hernandez has done since he began playing regularly three weeks ago, when former manager Ryne Sandberg used the designated hitter to get both Utley and Hernandez on the field in Baltimore: He has hit .410 (32-for-78) with a .965 OPS and 10 stolen bases in 20 games entering last night. Since June 21, Hernandez had reached base safely in 15 straight games and had 28 hits, five more than any other major leaguer. On the season as a whole, Hernandez was hitting .302 with a .771 OPS. He led the Phillies with 23 walks.

In all seriousness I've mostly lurked the non-Phillies sports discussions over the years. Did I actually hit a nerve with J-Roll?

If you had delineated between your pop-up JImmy as a separate entity to clutch Jimmy you'd be fine. You'd be great. You'd have the whole world on a plate.

I never liked how much he tried to swing for HR's TBH. He would have been better off/more useful if he shortened his swing and concentrated on hitting for average and getting on base where he could wreak havoc with his speed. That MVP season was the worst thing to happen to him IMO.

I wanted Pat Burrell to focus his swing more on hitting line drives to the gaps for more doubles. We're illogical beings.

Before his MVP season, he had over 4000 PA with a 95 OPS+. After his MVP season, he had over 4000 PA with a 95 OPS+. I don't think it changed him much.

People often think fast guys should hit ground balls. They're wrong, but they often think that. Rollins hit over 3000 ground balls in his career, and hit .217 on them, with a .458 OPS. He could have bunted more - only 148, and he hit .387 on those attempts.
