Flyers save about $1 million against the cap, assuming some team isn't dumb, Mac will have to play in the AHL

According to Seravalli on Twitter, Flyers will carry $4.05M in dead space if MacDonald is sent to AHL. His $ would be more than the entire Phantoms' team salary combined.

They have to get the roster down another guy though. Laughton made it. Mac did not. Mac's definitely gone.

wonder if this is just to get roster compliant since they know nobody will claim him and they fear they'd lose manning. not sure it makes much sense to waive him otherwise. that's $4m in dead money per year for the next 5 years. probably better to run him out for half a season and hope someone gets suckered into trading for him after they lose a few dmen.
