Flyers also have 6 picks in the Top 99 this year.

Eklund:
Hearing this morning the Kings are being very active regarding possibly moving up at the draft to get into the top 7.

They pick #13 in every round except the 6th, and they have NJ's 7th.

Seravalli piece on Hakstol:

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/Dave_Hakstol.html

One day last summer, the Hakstol clan stopped at a quiet local watering hole. Hakstol was bombarded with questions by an incessant Minnesota Gophers fan — North Dakota's bitter rival. After a patient few minutes, Hakstol turned the tables.

"What do you do for a living?" Hakstol asked the fan.

"I'm an accountant," he replied. "Oh, good," Hakstol said. "I've had a bunch of tax questions I was wondering if you could answer."

Terry Murray left the Phantoms to become an assistant in Buffalo. Hope Larry Courville from Reading gets the gig.

Would have believed all new assistants as more likely. Weird.

1980s (?) game on CSN right now with Gene Hart broadcasting. Boy was he good.

Not sure of the year, but Mark Howe and Rick Tocchet are on the team.

Tocchet was a rookie in 84-85. They both were gone by '91 or so.

Timonen met with Hextall about a job with the team but is taking time off first

Looking at mocks for this Friday, it seems like everyone has the Flyers taking Mikko Rantanen or Ivan Provorov. Seems like they don't need another d-man, but supposedly this kid is better than Ghost, Morin, Hagg and Sanheim and would be in the NHL right away

I hope they continue to draft defensemen until some of them prove they will be top guys in the NHL. They can get top line guys through Free Agency or trades, but to get a top pairing guy is much tougher.

Yep. Keep drafting defenseman if that player is your BPA at 7

Comment from Jeff Marek's mock where Flyers take Provorov:

"A truly gifted player who does it all for the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Flyers' blueline will be set for the next 10 years with Provorov, Travis Sanheim, Samuel Morin and Shayne Gostisbehere".

Hinkie is trying to teach Hex how to make a blockbuster trade, but first he needs to build up his tolerance...

Right. And here's the deal, is the overall organization better with Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Gostisbehere and Hagg or Zacha, Sanheim, Morin, Gostisbehere and Hagg? That's a tough call and one for which Hextall earns his pay. IMO, I'd take Povorov and forget about the blue line for a while. Barring any deals with the young defensemen being involved, just draft forwards and goalies for the rest of this and probably the next two years.
