Regardless of general organizational cheapness, there can't be that many non-stops a day from San Diego to Philadelphia, probably like 2 or 3 on US Air and that's it, right?

Coach and a non-direct flight. They must hate him.

I rode back from Vegas over the summer with Montgomery in coach. It's a cheap organization from top to bottom.

You'd think that these guys would have enough FF miles to get upgrades.

Gordon Wittenmyer, Chicago Sun Times:

sources during the week said the Phillies are one of several teams that have asked about left-hander Travis Wood and could be a match for catcher Welington Castillo. The Cubs like lefty-hitting Phils outfielder Ben Revere.

They probably just remember that great game against Halladay. Anyway, I look forward to SABR nerts changing course on Revere

While getting an extreme flyball pitcher seems like a bad idea, if the cost is Ben Revere.....

Great trade, who'd we get?

Wonder if we could get Worley for him?

I'm skeptical that EpstHoyer have any actual interest in Revere. Probably catfishing Rube

To paraphrase Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glennross...1st class is for winners.

I'd bet that he flew 1st class to and from the 2008 winter meetings.

Remember when solid OF prospects were fairly easy to come by? What happened to that?

And now lefty starters that throw 92-96 are Now often only okay prospects? Baseball has changed a lot.

Travis Wood is not good, and neither is Revere. However, I would rather see Wood play than Revere.

While Welington Castillo is bad at pitch framing, I think he would be a good asset. That would free us up to trade Ruiz to a contender, which is what he deserves. Plus, I would guess that Ruiz could return something decent at the trade deadline.

i'm impressed... you hate revere enough to prefer having the phils make us watch one of the few pitchers arguably as bad or worse than kendrick over the past few seasons.

It's possible they have realized the ship has sailed on Revere. Has it? I'm not sure. But I'm not sure I'd be jumping to trade him for Travis Wood.

Wood had a pretty great 2013 season and wasn't terrible in 2012. i'd rather hold on to revere and hope he plays better with a healthy foot, too, but i think Wood can be a decent pitcher in 2015. i mean dee gordon just got a pretty nice return, if revere can post a .340-.350 OBP and steal bases at a good rate, he's gonna have a good market at the deadline. so yeah, i could go either way on this one.

Revere's a below average hitter, at best, and a poor centerfielder, but a good baserunner. His ship never came in.

I'm not pining for Travis Wood. If you can get more than that for a guy who walked 3 times in his last 300 PA, then by all means proceed.
