Maybe if he did it at one of the intermissions they could have won.

Hextall can look in a mirror if he wants to see who to blame. He's the guy who hires/fires coaches and elevates/demotes players.
There is so much wrong with this club that it's hard to figure out where to begin. The best place is probably with Berube and the coaching staff. Injuries matter but the performance of too many guys is regressing. Some of this will shake itself out when the injured defensemen get well but the overall defense is mediocre at best.
It's time to get an experienced coach in here who can create a system that uses the abilities of the roster in a better way. If that's Murray, then he should be brought up from LV. If it's someone from outside of the organization, then they need to be hired.
There needs to be some personnel changes. Laughton looks to have the skills to play at this level. Bringing him up is a start. Could Leier, Straka or Cousins really be worse than what LeCavalier, Akeson, Vandeveld or Umberger are showing right now? Some of these guys need some press box time to sit out and contemplate whether or not they want to play this game or not.

Voracek, Giroux, and Simmonds are having nice years.

We are giving actual minutes to Carlo Colaiacovo. How could you possibly blame Berube for this? Hextall just got here, too, and it's already his fault? Could we give him more than a few months? Jeez.

And if you're going to mention "too many" guys regressing, you're not going to give any credit to the staff for the development of Raffl, the automatic fitting in of Bellemare, and making Nick Schultz look like a competent defenseman?

100% dead on.

They need to wait until Toronto fires Randy Carlyle and bring him in here. He's one of the best coaches in the league.

Yeah the blame for this year still goes to Homer.

The Umberger trade really looks like a total flop, but Lecavalier was Homer's idea. Not sure Berube/Hextall had anything to do except give him some sort of chance to sort it out. If he doesn't, they'll get rid of him.

He needs to let the young guys get minutes down in the Minors. We don't need another Coots situation. Let them play and develop by getting minutes and playing on the PP. Also, they are up against the cap so making moves is not as easy as just calling guys up.

Most indications are they tried to move Vinny this past offseason, nobody wanted him. Can't think another year at this current pace is going to change anyone's mind.

IDK about Raffl. He started to look good this season but then was hurt. Ten games of good play is a SSS. The same goes with PEB. At times he looks out of position perhaps from being bounced around in the lineup. At best he's a bottom six forward. Schultz is what he is a seventh or eighth defenseman gettin PT due to injuries.
The roster has other issues. Braydon Schenn is not a LW and should be put back to center where he belongs (better yet traded). Coutourier and Read are lost out there. How do you justify having Akeson, VdeV, Jones, on an NHL roster? Finally Jones was sent out and Laughton brought up.
There is a need for a more competent coaching staff that stresses accountability. Some guys need to sit and, in the case of one guy, contemplate retirement. Hextall is in charge now. It's his club. It's up to him to create some solutions.

So Raffl's games are too small of a sample size but all of these other guys that are "regressing" that you have cherry-picked is not too small of a sample size to conveniently fit into your argument. Makes sense.
