RANDAMARO PHILLIES THOUGHTS

I think revere's recent average spike is explainable by randomness. But I think history has proven that players with such a high GB rate will regress to a pretty ugly mean.

Pitchers aren't working him at all. Hitting for a high average under those circumstances nowadays leads to a good average for a Revere type. But I don't think he's really a .350 type.

If we're using WAR, which I don't particularly like, a win is a win. No need to dwell on shortcomings.

I shouldn't have said anything -- I want an upgrade to Revere. I just think he receives excessive criticism and could actually be useful on a better team and/or one with above-average power

1st round pick in 2012, three picks before Mitch Gueller

Was the Dodgers' #13 prospect according to MLB.com

Was part of the Roberto Hernandez trade. We are getting one more prospect. I didn't even know we traded Hernanadez.

Any chance Revere hits enough to trick another GM into dealing for him?

In other words, are there other Rubes out there?

Has more power than Revere :)

Not a bad prospect.

Asked if he thinks he will be back with the Phillies, Kendrick said, “I don’t know. I want to go where whoever wants me. That’s where I want to go. If it’s here, great. If they want me. You want to go somewhere where you’re wanted. We’ll see. I don’t know.”

Gelb says Revere and Howard have the same slugging % right now

Not quite, but close. Revere's OPS is better. Howard's SLG ranks 19th of 21 qualifying 1B in MLB this season. He's 20th in OPS.

Revere is hitting near .360 since July 1st. Only 26. Best baserunner in baseball (or at least close). Some playoff contender that can use that? We should be able to get a sore armed reliever and a skinny catcher for him.

james jones, mariners.

but that's about it. unless revere (a) gets his walk rate at least back up over 5 percent and (b) can read fly balls off the bat much better from left than in center, he doesn't have much of a future. i trust bwar much more than fwar (the latter does strange things with uzr), and their 0.2 war for revere looks about right. that's way too low to be a useful as anything but a ph/pr on a playoff contender, and will get lower soon without both of the things above happening. there is a significant chance of each, but the odds of getting both aren't good. i had hopes, but i know when to quit on a specific player, even if i still believe that speed and batting average guys with weak bb and iso can be 2+ win players. sell (relatively) high, now on revere. let sizemore hold the fort for now, and if rube can't hoodwink the cuban dude into signing with the phils, throw altherr or quinn in there next year and see what happens.

morbidly curious: who's the half-dead guy his OPS is better than?
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)
