Trading Hartnell will be difficult, plus he has a NMC. I wouldn't expect it, but would be pleasantly surprised if it happened.

After they LTIR Pronger and trade Vinny, that's about 9.4 mil of cap space that they freed up for a backup goalie (still have to re-sign Schenn, Hall, Akeson). I don't think we get any homerun offseason deals. What exactly do you mean by "go for it?" Go for what exactly? Thinking is "oh well, we lost to the East Champs in 7 games, just gotta figure out how to beat them and we are in the Finals?"

The Flyers can't move Vinny until they have Brayden Schenn locked up in a sensible deal. There's been talk but no progress on that.
Rumors of Hartnell to Columbus for a pick are out there.
I'm not for moving Coburn unless there is a better replacement for him brought onto the roster. He can be disappointing because his game isn't better but he still is a decent defenseman. Maybe he gets asked to do too much?

I think Hextall is going to move 4-5 players off the team this season and look to get a scoring winger, perhaps some more mobility on defense, and most importantly, change the nature of the team.

I think Hextall is probably thinking, we took the Eastern Conference Champs to 7, lost by 1 goal, and we didn't have our Goalie for 3 of those games and lost 2 of them without him.

Vinny was pretty useless in the playoffs and playing out of position, so if you can get anyone that can give you more then he did that is an improvement. You have to hope Schenn and Coots step it up as they are another year older and hope Kimmo doesn't fall off a cliff completely.

I don't know that there are any Homerun deals to be made, and I don't know if that is Hextall's style. If it was Homer, I would expect Subban being signed to an offer sheet or something like that.

I haven't seen that Hartnell rumor anywhere but here. Not holding my breath. Schenn isn't in line for some huge payday. Him not being signed yet doesn't give him leverage re Vinny being traded, Laughton negates that imo.

I know it's a year away, but if Bobby Ryan hits FA, I don't care who the GM is, that's a done deal.

People keep saying that Schenn has little to no leverage but I don't believe that. If he goes out and finds a team that will sign an offer sheet for five and five, what are the Flyers going to do? If their negotiations with Meehan give them the indication that that is where he is at, they should deal him. My feeling is that some team will offer that money and time to Schenn. Also like you, I don't think that he is worth it.

So Schenn is an rfa right? So we have to tender him to ensure if there's an offer sheet we'd get compensation, below is the latest compensation table I could find, what do you give him? A second round tender?

$1,110,249 or below - No Compensation
Over $1,110,249 to $1,682,194 - 3rd round pick
Over $1,682,194 to $3,364,391 - 2nd round pick
Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 - 1st round pick, 3rd
Over $5,046,585 to $6,728,781 - 1st round pick, 2nd, 3rd
Over $6,728,781 To $8,410,976 - Two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd
Over $8,410,976 - Four 1st Round Picks

Bill, as I understand things, if the Flyers don't sign him by July 1 he is an RFA and can seek offer sheets from other clubs. If the Flyers don't match an offer that he receives the compensation to them is as you laid out. So if Schenn signs in the 3-5 million area, which is a strong possibility, the Flyers would receive a 1st and 3rd round pick from the team that signed Schenn. Hardly adequate compensation. The Flyers would be better to trade him to a team that might accept his contract demands and get player compensation in return.

Like a defenseman. Package him and his brother please. Laughton fills that void.

I'd be for that. This RFA thing with Schenn has been in the mix for over a year. Holmgren couldn't get anywhere with Schenn/Meehan. Now it looks like Hextall can't either. It's time to move him. Package the brothers and get a decent young defenseman-Bogosian, Gudbranson, Myers or the like.

Maybe im in the minority but I am not making Schenn a big offer. He was pretty disappointing.
