That would be great but it doesn't feel realistic to me.

I'd drive Hartnell to Ohio for that.

gonna move this discussion over here, but an underlooked aspect of the carter/richard trades was basically going all in on an old ass defensive core, which , as we all know, backfired horribly. i know they tried to fix it with the offer sheet to weber, but still. this team has no legit first line defenseman.

burns some to see them winning cups, but i'd still rather have simmer, schenn and giroux as captain than richards.

Flyers have to hit on Ghost/Hagg/Morin. Every single one of them needs to be quality NHL defenseman and this team looks a lot better in 2-3 years. Hextall needs to dump some of the bad contracts this offseason. The only person that may be in play is Brayden Schenn imo just because you have Laughton ready to go.

Edmonton still interested in Coburn

Watch for Edmonton to again approach Philadelphia in hopes of helping the Flyers alleviate their glut of salary on defence. MacTavish has liked Braydon Coburn for some time. The Flyers have nearly $27 million committed to six defencemen, the priciest blueline in hockey. If he can’t trade for what he wants, MacTavish will shop for a Ron Hainsey or Matt Niskanen on July 1, should the latter reach UFA status. Or perhaps take a flyer on a potential UFA like Andrej Meszaros or Matt Greene.

Financially it makes sense to pull the trigger, I just don't think it makes their defense better this year losing Coburn. I know lots of people hate him and he is frustrating, but he is still better than most of the guys we have on defense.

I'd rather move Vinnie and Hartnell to help financially, but maybe Hextall plans on changing things up more by moving all of them.

Lecavalier is definitely getting traded.
I think that Hartnell is on the team next year.
If you trade Coburn, you make your defense worse. He's got a decent contract, especially compared to the other guys signed on the team. If you were to trade him, then who fills in? Gus is gone, Ghost/Hagg aren't going to be NHL ready right out of camp.
Probably best to just stay the course with the defense right now.

And by signing Kimmo for another year, and seeing what the Rangers just did, you have to feel like they are going to go for it. (Not that they don't do that every year, but now with Hextall in charge he could have tried to change the team more).

I think you have to move Vinny, just don't worry about any return other than cap space.

I think you move Hartnell if the deal is right. This may be the last chance to get out from under the contract just like with Vinny.
