The Orioles claimed Morse and Willingham off waivers and are trying to trade for one of them (likely Morse)

47 dingers for Chris Davis, 3rd most in a season for the Orioles behind only Brady Anderson (50 in 1996) and Frank Robinson (49 in 1966)

28 games to go

The Twins should just let Willingham and his contract go.

Damn. Davis terrorized him some minor league pitchers. He had a real nice age 22 season in the big leagues. Then he was kinda lousy for four seasons. No word on chubby hands or not.

So, tonight might be the night for the Pirates (clinching first winning season since 1992).

Jealously re-living 2007 through them. Really feel for that fanbase tonight and how sweet it will be just to clinch this relatively unremarkable milestone.

Pirates currently lead Brew Crew 1-0.

Haven't won since I posted this.

To borrow a line, if I rooted for gravity, we'd all hover six feet off the ground.

The Olympics are corrupt, plagued by infighting, and damage local economies. I'm glad baseball's no longer a part of them.

Kinda feel like it is worth noting that the Astros have not called up George Springer. He had an 1.010 OPS this year (AA and AAA) and is turning 24 this month.

I think he's not on their 40 man, so rather than take one of their other guys off the 40 man and expose that person to the rule v draft, they're not bringing him up for September. But yeah, he almost went 40/40 too.

Speaking of Springer, old friend Jared Cosart has made 9 starts and has a 2.13 ERA. He also has pitched 55 innings and has 30 Ks and 29 BBs. Zoinks.

Josh Zeid has pitched a lot since his call up but has a 5.82 ERA.

Pirates did it. 82 wins, on a 1-0 shutout of the Rangers.
