@Ken_Rosenthal: Burnett lives in Monkton, Md. In play for #Orioles and possibly #Phillies. Remember, #Pirates did not make him $14.1M qualifying offer.

Don't really want to see Burnett pitch for us. Ever. Seems like a waste of time to me.

Burnett is seriously good. Not sure why he would come here on a 1 year deal though

Agreed, I would love to see him here though. He was great last year

I would love it, but it seems weird to essentially lock MAG and Boner out of the rotation, especially if Gaudin is #6. Maybe they'd trade Kendrick

If Pettibone is out of the rotation, he needs to go in a high leverage bullpen spot. He'd be effective out of the pen, don't really want him disheartened by being given the long man job.

Or you could finally trade Kendrick, either way it's better than the situation now.

Is Carmona-Hernandez' spot really that solid that either of those guys wouldn't be competing for that spot? Plus Cole and Cliff will probably need elbow surgery before the spring is out.

Him and Proefrock are best friends or neighbors or something. Supposedly that is intriguing enough for him.

Apparently they promised him a spot.

I know it would be a high second rounder, but not even a second round pick?

Seems like he could legit improve the rotation, and if all goes to hell, couldn't we then flip him, perhaps for a prospect or two that'd be worth more (and available sooner) than a 2nd round pick this year?

Well we certainly wouldn't want to lie to a guy like Hernandez.

A.J. Burnett could interest Phillies

This does make too much sense....so it'll never happen. Better to ensure a 4th place finish with our current rotation.

Lee Hamels Burnett and then MAG/Hernandez/Boner/Gaudin does seem a lot better than Lee/Hamels and three question marks with a 6th man in the bullpen

I"m just not in any way interested in giving away a pick that's essentially a 1st-rounder in what's supposed to be a deep draft. The farm system has finally turned a corner and the Phils now have their highest pick in about 15 years. It took a while but they're doing it right the last two years.
