Ledee has been insufferable this offseason.

OTOH, with their resources it makes no sense at all that they wouldn't be major players for a guy like Tanaka, who is in his prime and would cost them nothing but money. IMO he's just the sort of player whom they should always be pursuing vigorously.

Yeah, I thought this was obvious and accepted.

For me, I think the most depressing thing about the coming season is that it's a lose/lose situation. If the Phillies suck, we'll have to endure lots of bad games and crappy plays. If the Phillies somehow get lucky enough for all these long shots to work out, we'll be stuck with Amaro forever, making it much less likely that we'll win in 2015 and beyond. Honestly, that's what keeps going through my mind. I want to hope for success, but I know that success will just lead to much worse and longer frustration. And I can't in my heart root for them to lose.

@mstairs12: Looking forward to attend Wing Bowl 22. Always great to visit Philly. Should be a hell of a time. #wingbowl

This offseason would be a lot less shitty if we re-signed #moonshot

There's something in the CBA that stops sign-and-trades to get around draft pick loss, right? Meaning that, say, the Tribe can't re-sign Jimenez and then immediately trade him to the Phillies for a prospect (presumably one the team values less than a 2nd round pick), then we tear up the deal he signed with Cleveland and negotiate a new deal w/o having to cede the pick.

I think it was more like a full NTC until June 15th of that season. While unlikely without some incentives going to the affected player, a trade was possible. In the Jimenez example above, I think there's absolutely no way they'd be allowed to rip up the Cleveland contract and negotiate their own unless it was a clear improvement for (and agreed to by) Jimenez.
