Random Phillies Thoughts and Tired Schtick

He said Ruf is a possibility in LF but didn't sound to confident. He mentioned Revere in LF too. It sounded as if he was hinting at Ruf being more of a platoon player. Even mentioned Howard as a possibility as a platoon.

Said pitching was top priority (imagine that) followed by an OFer

Well that's a big step for Rube. Coupled with Sandberg calling Howard out for insufficient game prep, this could actually happen

Was anything asked at the end of season about Hernandez? I don't think his name was mentioned during interview.

In theory, yes, but the only way he'd be in LF is if they add a legit CF, and he'd be sharing time with Ruf and maybe others

brown makes more sense in right. i think some of his struggles were related to trying to break into the lineup and sticking. i never thought he was a bad rf watching him in the minors and his arm certainly plays better over there. sandberg also felt comfortable enough with him to play him in center for a period of time. if they add a legit rf, fine keep him in left. if not, put him back in right.

If it's because Ruf is starting in LF, fine, but I don't know why so many people see this as imperative. Brown was awful in RF in his age-25 season

Probably going to acquire a LF

John Dewan ‏@FieldingBible 2h

Stat of the Day: The 2005 Phillies infield, which started Howard, Utley, Rollins, and Bell, was worth 85 Runs Saved.

I knew Young was bad but I didn't realize that Bell was so much better than him.
