Phillies Thoughts- Ruben Amaro: Great GM or The Greatest GM?

Between Syndergaard and d'Arnaud, the Mets did pretty well for themselves in the DIckey trade.

I don't think people are suggesting that they shouldn't have traded d'Arnaud for Roy. That would be a stupid thing to say.

Although one could argue that maybe instead of getting Toronto to pay $6m in that deal, they might have been able to keep d'Arnaud, but that's just unfounded speculation.

One might also argue that they would have been better off keeping Cliff Lee for 2010 and simply signing Roy before 2011 and extending Cliff, thereby allowing you to keep d'Arnaud, but I don't think I would trade Roy's 2010 memories for anything.

Simply signing Roy for 2011 assumes he would not have been traded to another team that gave him an extension before 2010. And if he was still a FA before 2011, if he was coming off his 2010, how much $$ and years would that have cost?

Sounds like a groundbreaking conversation.

Ryan Lawrence @ryanlawrence21
Ryno has had multiple conversations with Rollins, wants him to focus on getting on top of the ball, take advantage of speed, less pull-happy

Ryan Lawrence @ryanlawrence21
Also: "Improving on-base percentage, that's what the team need," Sandberg said of Rollins.

If only someone had thought of Jimmy doing those things before now. What a missed opportunity.

Except that voice has been around all season while Rollins is posting career lows.

Rollins seems like he's really slowing down. Makes sense to tell him to hit the ball on the ground and use his speed.

You guys are seriously glossing over the Sandberg quote to make more hay of the John Clark Bowa rumor?

Nope. Sandberg is an irredeemable, know-nothing, Neanderthal.
