Just noticed that according to BA's draft database, the Phillies have signed 32nd round pick Tyler Viza, HS pitcher. Good news if true.

The Viza signing on the Phillies.com page w/ yesterday's date, so it's a done deal. Hope they didn't go crazy and give up on Wetzler and Keys. Supposedly Child is signed too (unofficially), but still nothing from Wetzler yet

BA Database has the Dan Child signing at $100K, so he didn't use up any of the remaining bonus pool, so about $175K remaining.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we hadn't talked with him since the draft. Its a bit of a game of chicken. We're not negotiating with Wetzler I don't think. Take the slot or go back to school. The Phillies think like me, that going back to school is such a dumb idea that it is foolish not to take the slot value. Dealing with the Phillies front office might be frustrating. Maybe we should be happy they haven't been in contact with him.
