anyway, Upton's deal is inherently bad because it's inherently the peak of his market. he got teams to big on him as a free agent and he took the most favorable offer. you don't trade Domonic Brown for someone in that situation unless the team who just agreed to pay him a bunch of money decides to pay him a little bit to play for someone else. or unless the Braves take all that money back the other way (i.e. Ryan Howard is part of the deal)
Actually the peak of a market can still undervalue a player, but whatever.
it's about perceived value, not actual value. I guess if you think B.J. Upton is underpaid you could make the deal. Does anyone think that?
