What do you expect me to say? That he has loads of tools, a babip bump and he could easily be a .800 ops player going forward? Reading stated a negative career WAR for someone who has under 600 PA's for his career, a small sample size to project someone's career arc, especially when you've suffered from BABIP woes like Dom. Not to mention in that less than 600 PA's he's opsing over .700 as well.

Howard might be the only guy on the team I'd trade for BJ

Yet you cite someone's .138 average 30 games into the season.

I was being sarcastic. But hey, you're the one who wants BJ fucking Upton and his 75million contract in return for Dom Brown. Might as well empty our farm for Josh Hamilton if we're trying to sign overpriced outfielders who won't live up to their contracts.

BJ Upton had an OBP under .300 last year and this is his contract:

5 years/$75.25M (2013-17)
signed by Atlanta as a free agent 11/28/12
$3M signing bonus
13:$12.45M, 14:13.45M, 15:$14.45M, 16:$15.45M, 17:$16.45M

biggest play of that game by WPA was when he GIDP'd

anyway, Upton's deal is inherently bad because it's inherently the peak of his market. he got teams to big on him as a free agent and he took the most favorable offer. you don't trade Domonic Brown for someone in that situation unless the team who just agreed to pay him a bunch of money decides to pay him a little bit to play for someone else. or unless the Braves take all that money back the other way (i.e. Ryan Howard is part of the deal)
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

Obviously the braves aren't going to trade him 5 weeks into a 5 year deal. I was more making of an implication about how I felt about the Phils of after someone called upton a worthless piece of shit.

That was me. And to be fair, I called him a worthless piece of shit during the offseason when we were discussing if the Phillies should sign him. I'm not basing that on 5 weeks. I honestly believe he has been overrated his whole career and I am very happy the Braves will be paying him 15 million a year the next 5 years and not us.

people are saying that perhaps you were too hyperbolic in suggesting trading the entire of for bj because it would be a terrible deal for us.

• Skip Schumaker since 2007: 46 pitches, hit 90-plus 10 times.

• Barry Zito since 2007: 17,469 pitches, hit 90-plus zero times.

I had to double check to make sure this really happened but Barry Zito won Game One of the World Series last year

Actually the peak of a market can still undervalue a player, but whatever.

Verlander through 7 starts this season:
4-2, 46.1 IP, 50 K, 13 BB, 1 HR, 8 ER, 1.55 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, .222 BA, 1.96 FIP, but a 2.92 xFIP
no more than 3 ER in any game but he's not getting into the 8th inning.
