Money has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't care if Young paid the Phillies $3m to play.

"I didnt like cleaning up dog poop," Young said. "It was a dog park and people dont clean up after their dogs sometimes and were left to. A lot of times I just stared at it because it was too soupy.
"That puts some perspective on things, too. Like unnecessary littering, finding syringes out there, cigarettes everywhere, beer cans and then the daily stuff that goes around. You start seeing the dogs everywhere and it makes you realize if you have a dog, clean up after it.
"If I ever do decide to smoke cigarettes, throw it in the trash can. Don't litter. Being out there when it was 30 degrees and the wind was blowing, it makes you realize you need to make some good choices. You're not going to be out there doing community service next time." #phillies

When she first got it, she couldn't put any of the shapes into the ball. She'd try to push the oval shape through the square hole or the triangular shape through the star-shaped hole, etc. It was sometimes funny to watch and other times frustrating because I wanted her to figure it out. I expect I'll feel something similar this year watching Charlie try to use our collection of corner OFers. The positive sign is that my daughter has figured it out...... I'm wondering if Charlie can learn new tricks.

Ruf and Brown are lousy defenders too, perhaps with more upside there but lacking even Young's modest hitting bona fides. And the other possible moves all had much steeper costs and longer-term obligations. This is a guy who's shown power at the major league level, going into his age 27 year with as much motivation as a guy can have. The odds are that it won't work, but I think it's incorrect to say there's no upside.
