Future All-Star SS has a lot of value.

Now you have to believe he's a future All-Star. the Braves do it looks like.

So we're not considering laying a laundry bin there

Well, we also resigned Martinez.
We now know that Amaro really is running the Phillies. He and Monty seem to have ignored the committee.

Soooo... would we deal Galvis plus (plus plus) for Upton? Hoping so. No idea if AZ would want him, admittedly.

In the category of optimism, I wonder if, given Asche's recent increase in value, the Rangers might be willing to consider trading Olt for Asche plus another good prospect or two.

Is it just me or does this year's plan seem a little different than years past? Normally I feel like Rube targets 3-4 guys and signs 2-3 of them

Definitely

97.5 FM just reported on Youkilis interest. Not sure if that's something new or a rehash of the early-week reports

Wishful thinking, but I think we're serious on Hamilton. My hope is that Rube is hoping that this extends in January like Prince last year and he can get a decent deal done (Hamilton won't have the fallback offer like Prince had from the Brewers). As everyone else said, it's going to be about getting the years right.

This is okay by me. It's good to approach things differently off an 81 win season rather than a 95 or so win season.

Agreed. In the past, I've felt like we had one main hole to fill (PiP bait) and so Ruben moved quickly (LF - Ibanez, 3B - Polanco, CL - Papelbon, etc.). This year we could stand to upgrade all three OF positions and 3B at the very least and so it makes sense to be more patient and see if you can get a good deal at one position, which frees up additional dollars elsewhere. I guess the flexibility is the positive side of not being very good.
