It was supposedly the Washington Senators -- a team that had signed a few Cuban players over the years.

The story is supposedly TFBS though. Castro really wasn't very good at all.

interesting look at the best players in baseball (over 5 year stretches) from 1969-present, using WAR

mike schmidt had the best WAR in all of baseball over a 10 year period, from 74-84.

Just read that. Pretty good, but JoPo did the same thing (it might have been three year periods though) last year.

I think it's more ridiculous that Mark McGuire isn't in the Hall of Fame. Steriods or not, he still had a huge influence getting people back into baseball after the 1994 strike.
