The Philadelphia A's Historical Society will present three of the best Philadelphia baseball performers from the 1950's and 1960's at the Days Inn in Horsham on Saturday, January 14th. Bill White, Curt Simmons and Bobby Shantz will be present to sign memorabilia from 10am to 1pm at the hotel location on Easton Rd. The Connie Mack Chapter hopes that members and friends will consider attending. For more information contact interim A's Society President, Dick Rosen [dickrosen@comcast.net or 215 947-1371]
Bill White is a former Gold-Glove, All-Star, 1stbaseman with the Cardinals, Phillies & Giants who later became the President of the National League after stints of broadcasting baseball for the Yanks. Curt Simmons spent 20 seasons in the majors with the Phillies, Cardinals, Cubs and Angels. Shantz is the nimble, nifty, lefty who pitched for the A's, Yanks, Pirates, Colt 45's, Cardinals, Cubs and Phillies. He was the AL MVP in 1952 and sported 8 consecutive Gold Gloves from 1957--1964.
