I just went to Larry Walker's Baseball Reference page and it shows him as a Hall of Famer. Congrats, Larry!

The Giants starting OF consists of Melky Cabrera, Angel Pagan, and Nate Schierholtz. Pretty funny to see MLB Network spin that as a good group.

They will account for roughly all of the giants many runs against us.

So, today I ordered a copy of the 2012 Hardball Times Baseball Annual. Have people on here bought/read previous editions? Is it readable? The web site promises great baseball writing in addition to "novel" statistics. I am of course more interested in the former than the latter.

Yu Darvish on MLB Network. Walks the first guy but he foolishly tries to steal 2nd and is nailed. Yu can't throw strikes, 3-0 to Asdrubal. Walks him.

Yu walked 4 guys but 2 were thrown out stealing. It looked like his fastball was around 90-91. Had no command of his control. Probably working on things.

Maybe I should get me that Fielding Bible from Baseball Info Solutions. UZR and the other fielding stuff isn't very satisfactory. Here's one of the things in the book that they do:

They keep track of runs gained and lost via good plays and misplays. Pretty interesting. I wonder how Dom Brown would make out in this stat?

Take, for example, Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs. He’s now 36 years old and a below-average outfielder, according to Good Plays and Misplays. In fact, his 13 runs lost on Good Plays and Misplays in the last three years is the worst among all outfielders. He had 22 Good Plays, 73 Misplays and 25 Errors. That’s 76 more misplays and errors than good plays. The next worst left fielder is exactly half as bad. Logan Morrison had 38 more misplays and errors than good plays. The best left fielder in GPF/DME runs saved is Jason Bay. He had 73 good plays and only 47 misplays and errors in the three years, a net of 26
