Damn. I was actually going to post that this article used a lot of good stuff instead of just making crap up like bleacher report. I was then going to point out the Howard contract being the worst was probably influenced by the author being from Philly but the argument was pretty sound regardless.
I should have just posted that to begin with but after finding out one of our pals wrote the thing I think I should post that post so I just did.

Yeah, Blanton's no joke (even though you can make a lot of jokes about him). If he's healthy, he can be a real solid starter for us, and he has more WS home runs than most of the guys on that list. Also, it's just insane to underrated Chooch at this point. I wouldn't trade him for any catcher in baseball.
The one thing that really bummed me out about that article is that every team in our division has a better 3rd baseman than us (but fuck Chipper).

i should clarify. i mean because they're immeasurable, a writer can choose whomever he wants when he rates intangibles. i'm not saying they don't exist, just that it doesn't mean anything when someone rates one set against another.

for the most part yea, when you're saying "they have new uniforms" and all that trash, but when the phils/reds met in the playoffs 2 years ago, we had the intangibles as a veteran team with postseason experience while the reds were noobies to the show.
i mean, the phils were better too, but that plays into it if you were going to arbitrarily do a breakdown
