If he hits FA healthy I don't see why he wouldn't be looking at 150mm+ in FA though. Both the ALE teams would be interested. Weaver potentially left a ton of cash on the table

If Hamels would take that, it should be easily doable.

Weaver would have been a FA after 2012, the same time as Hamels. He's a little more than 9 months older. He's equally as durable, and he's been at least as good as Hamels in the recent past, if not better.

The difference is that Weaver admits he took a bit of a discount for the security and because he wanted to stay on the Angels. It sounds like Hamels is not interested in doing the same, but I have no idea.

You may be right that he just wants to go FA and try to get 5/120 like Lee or 7/$150 like Sabathia. If so, he may price himself out of the Phils range, and will play for the Yanks (they clearly have the $$ and don't have that much committed in a couple years). Don't see who else would sign him for that - in 2014 the Red Sox have $17 mill for Beckett, $16 mill for Lackey and Lester scheduled for FA, not to mention $40m+ committed to Gonzalez and Crawford and Ellsbury scheduled for FA.

However, if the article is to be believed and he's looking for $17-$20 per year, 5/90 is there. If I were him though, regardless of where I went I'd rather take 5 years and be a FA again at 33 yrs old instead of 7 years and 35 yrs old. He can still get a 5/120 deal at 33 years old, especially if he wins a Cy or 2 in the interim.

He could look for that CC 7 year, plus opt out, deal though. And honestly I think the Yankees would give him whatever he wants, they are so desperate for front end pitching. I'm moderately concerned about this possibility

If Amaro won't sign him for $17 mill per after giving Papelbon $15 per, he's worse than Hitler.

Although part of me thinks Amaro is laughing that Hamels will sign for as little as $17 per then phoning Salisbury and telling them they can't afford it to drive the price even lower.

I'm thinking 5 years 95-100 m for Hamels.

He's not as accomplished as Halladay or Lee. Weaver took a discount. The Verlander deal plus time value might be a good guide.

Papelbon "only" got $12.5 million per, didn't he?

Ibanez somewhat surprising, since he made $12 million last season and players almost always get raises in arbitration. #Phillies

Gotta think Ibanez has already told them he will decline. Makes no obvious sense otherwise
