Can anyone create a gif of Uncle Chollie doing the bubble gum toss while coming out of the dugout?

I don't understand how you all can be having so much fun when we know for a stone cold fact that the 2014 Phillies are going to be straight ip mediocre.

And never forget 1964! You guys act like that happened over 50 years ago! WRONG! It happened 47 years ago! In conclusion, we're screwed both in the past and in the future, stop living in the present!

Three games ahead of the 1976 team, four ahead of 1977.

thought of this because of the comment in the gdt...because of the doubleheaders they'll have to give Kendrick a few more starts next month, so they might as well go to a de facto six-man rotation. They can stick with the regular rotation for one more turn before this:

Sept
7 oswalt
8 hamels
9 halladay
10 lee
11 kendrick
12 worley
13 oswalt
14 hamels
15 halladay
15/2 lee
16 kendrick
17 worley
18 oswalt
19 hamels
20 halladay
20/2 lee
21 kendrick
22 worley
23 oswalt
24 hamels
25 halladay
26 lee
27 kendrick
28 oswalt/worley

then you'd have Halladay on five days' rest for the NLDS opener, Lee on five days' rest for Game 2, and Hamels on nine days' rest for Game 3. In that last game of the season it's Worley's turn to pitch, but you also have Oswalt on four days' rest. So you can start Oswalt, have him pitch 2-3 innings then bring Worley in from the bullpen since that's likely his playoff role anyway. That keeps Oswalt on six days' rest for a potential Game 4 rather than 11 days' rest, and Worley would be ready to pitch in relief by Game 3.

The Grantland/BP guy is right that they'll age out of contention at some point. They know this. The drafting strategy of the last two years, and the new aggression with signing the international guy, is clearly designed to minimize the time in the valley. Think 2006-08 Braves. As Floppy points out, they now have some durable strengths. We're in a new normal, so long as the f/o stays hungry.

I don't think we'll see a non-doubleheader-related Kendrick start until they've clinched. Just doesn't seem Charlie's style.

maybe not, just food for thought. Dubee didn't rule out a six-man rotation when asked about it a couple weeks ago, that's how the idea crossed my mind
