The biggest thing regarding Utley is he really does replace a replacement level 2Bman so his value is pretty immense.

I don't know. Herndon since his callup has a nice ERA and good k/bb rate but he's still got a .299 BA against and a .780 OPS against. Further, he has allowed 33 % of inherited runners to score.

Stutes has a .196 BA against and a .659 BA against during the same time frame. He has not allowed any inherited runners to score although I'm not sure how many he has had.

You can blame bad luck for Herndon's high ERA but when he leaves his sinker belt high over the heart of the plate and it gets belted I'm not certain that's just bad luck.

All that aside both guys can be useful reliefers. Both can pitch more than one inning. And both have pretty good stuff when they're on their game.

One problem with our reliefers may be they don't get enough work.

We are in a division with a team with the 2nd best record in the division and 4th best in all of baseball. We also have double the division lead as the next biggest margin.

I'm starting to assume that Howard will end up leading the league in HRs and RBIs at the end of the season. He fixed something in that half game he was benched.
