2011 Random Phillies Stuff V: The Umpires Strike Back

This year of the pitcher has radically changed how I watch the games -

I'm thrilled when the opposing starter has to come out before the 8th inning
I often find myself wondering about pitching matchups for the 10th-12th innings

Hard to believe as well as the team has been playing that we're only on pace to win 102 games. Winning 100 games is hard.

Is this to make us appreciate their usual crew on DNL?

Jamie Moyer won 20 of them - and they lost to a 95-win Yankee team.

barely related but I remember driving on I-78 listening to WFAN moron Mike Francesca argue with Pat Gillick when he traded Jeff Nelson to the Yankees for Armando Benitez. Francesca basically accused Gillick of setting up his own defeat in the playoffs again. Seattle dropped the division to Oakland by 3 but Nelson didn't do a lot for the Yanks that season.

I'm sure his swing and misses would go over swimmingly with most of the posters here.

I want Hanley at 3rd.

It was so weird being unplugged from the Phillies the past ten days -- all I had was the ESPN Deportes ticker, whose comments were in Spanish. I saw "Cliff Lee [something Spanish] Red Sox dominación" and just figured they kicked our ass again

Brown's out of zone contact percentage went from 50% to 74.2%. That's completely flukish/unsustainable right?

Wasn't as good as usual web redemptions. Just a couple chuckles. Only new info to me was the kid said he started to dive when he saw the green dot on the gun (i.e. the tase wasn't what knocked him down).

Nothing about Brown is flukish or unsustainable. That's what a computer can't tell you.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can
